This page is dedicated to the value of Kotahitanga which the city of Rotorua has embraced for generations. Kotahitanga can easily be described as unifying for betterment of all and coming together to move forward as one.

This whakatauki is used on an occasion when something very special and unique takes place. It is often said of distinguished guests who seldom visited or to refer to great leaders and their achievements.
Another interpretation of the whakatauki is that you only live once and you should therefore seize every opportunity for betterment.
